STATE TESTS Begin Monday!
It is that time of the year for State Assessments! Testing will be next week April 25th-April 29th. Please note: this is ONLY for grades 3-8.
Every year the State of Nevada requires all students in Grades 3-8 to take the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC) to gauge proficiency in English Language Arts and Mathematics. We will be taking our assessments from April 25th to April 29th.
We will take 4 tests:
- ELA Computer Adaptive Test (Reading Test)
- ELA Performance Task (Writing Test)
- Math Computer Adaptive Test (Math Test)
- Math Performance Task (Math test with a real-world scenario application)
The proficiency and growth rates shown in the results of these assessments are used as one of the factors in determining our Star Rating. Showing excellence on this exam will help us have a 5-STAR school designation.
Please make sure you plan for your child to be present during these dates. It is critical that we complete testing as our goal is a 100% participation rate (again - relevant for our star rating).
Some helpful hints:
Make sure your child is well-rested before arriving at school and arrives ON TIME. If your child is late, they may not be able to test with their classmates. Bring a water bottle. Bring a chapter book to read after finishing the test.
HEADPHONES are required for a portion of this test. We will be providing headphones, however, you may have your child bring their own.
Good luck to all of our Test-Takers!
